| 内容記述 | In an attempt to answer the question, Can there he secure knowledge of the past?, this paper discusses epistemological aspect of archaeological data by following Ian Hodder's arguments. After dealing with material culture, system versus individual, history versus natural science, ethnoarchaeology and middle range theory, and context, we concluded that we cannot have certitude with respect to the conclusions of archaeology, but post-processual archaeology offers better prospects for justification of archaeological conclusions than does processual archaeology. | |||||
